The
component that connects and distributes the power from the transmission to the
rear wheels as well as what allows us to take turns without the wheels’
scrubbing the pavement is called a rear differential. Most people don’t give it
a thought but if you have a rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle the fluid
in the rear differential is what lubricates and cools all of the critical
parts. A lot of today’s rear differentials have specific fluids because of different
unique designs and must be inspected and replaced periodically to ensure trouble
free operation. There are many designs that require a competent experienced
professional attention to detail when it comes to servicing or repairing today’s
rear differential designs.
